Alex Vieira

Alex is one of the kindest people I have ever met- he is a sophomore on the rugby team at Cal from South Africa and Portugal with a very inspiring story. Alex’s kindness is not only evident in how he treats others day to day, but in the meaningful, global impact he has created through his work.

In high school, Alex and his family founded Brave Generation Academy, an innovative school that combines online learning with in-person hubs to make education more accessible and personalized. The program supports students with different goals and learning styles while prioritizing both academic and personal growth. It has expanded greatly over the past 6 years, spanning many countries. Through Brave Generation Academy, students in places like the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya receive not only education, but also mentorship, emotional support, and meals. In Afghanistan and Gaza, where access to schooling is limited, the program operates remotely to ensure students can continue learning despite conflict.

On top of Alex’s work to build BGA in high school, he now tutors an Afghan student preparing for her A-Level Business exams, often meeting across a 12.5 hour time difference. Whether early in the morning or late at night, he is dedicated to supporting her education.

Alex’s work is incredibly meaningful and kind, and for these reasons he deserves the Chris Kindness Award!
