Breaking bread on the table of kindness
Alain is the beloved Chef Instructor at The Bread Project nonprofit. Alain graduated from the world-renowned Ferrandi culinary school (E.S.C.F) and ran a Top 100 San Francisco restaurant for many years. He later opened La Bedaine in Berkeley. He has over 40 years of experience in the kitchen. He is now the Chef at The Bread Project giving back to the community by leading a 5-week free culinary course to low-income individuals with barriers to employment, equipping them with skills and jobs. Bread Project students come from many backgrounds, including recent refugees and the formerly incarcerated. With his impressive resume, Chef Alain could be doing high end food consulting or fancy catering events. Instead, he’s making a difference in the lives of others.
